Micro-Injections

Micro-InjectionsIn nature, only the strongest survive! At Yard Guard, our mission is to tip the odds in your favor.

Plant healthcare is what we do. Our highly trained staff inspects your property to identify any disease or insect issues before they can do damage.

If you think you may have an issue, or have a question about your trees or shrubs, please don’t hesitate to give us a call or text anytime. We can provide options of what we can offer or suggest things you can do yourself. At Yard Guard, we love to do anything we can to help.

Micro-Injections

The best part about micro-injections is it has no contact with the surrounding environment. The product can be injected right into the trunk of the tree to then be distributed to the rest of the plant. Perfect for more sensitive areas like densely populated areas or near waterways, this is the safest and most environmentally friendly treatment method because it eliminates hazards to groundwater, wildlife, people, or friendly insects, such as honey bees.

If you suspect your tree is ill or want to protect it from insects, fungicides, or disease, please contact us. We will inspect your trees and find the proper solution to keep your trees healthy and flourishing.

Lawn Care

Lawn Care Bozeman MontanaTake the worry and hassle out of maintaining a beautiful lawn with Yard Guard. We built our 5-Step Lawn Care Program to provide your lawn with the nutrition it needs to look its best and out-compete incoming weeds.
Our proprietary 5-Step Lawn Care Program includes, you guessed it, five separate applications. It is essential to complete all five steps every year as each application builds on the last. Ideally, our program starts with the fall application, which sets the foundation for the following season.

Our 5-Step Lawn Care Program

  1. The fall application sets the root health for the following year.
  2. The spring application helps get things growing evenly and break down some of the thatch buildups. We can start tackling some of the newly germinated weeds during this application while the moderate temperatures allow us to put down a decent amount of nutrients.
  3. Things are starting to get warmer for the third application, so we still have weed control to monitor. Here we also pack on the micronutrients, along with humic acid, while cutting back on macronutrients to keep your yard looking and feeling healthy.
  4. Similar to the previous step, we will continue to keep the grass growing but be mindful not to overwork things.
  5. Then back to the fall application to start rebuilding for the following year!

We live here, too, and we only use products that are safe for our staff, our rivers, and most of all, our customers’ pets and families. By focusing on slow-release fertilizers, micronutrients, and organic soil conditioners, we can provide amazing results while being environmentally conscious.

With Yard Guard, you’ll take the guesswork out of lawn care and have a yard full of green grass to be proud of. Does your lawn need some care? Give Yard Guard a call or get a quote online!

Blended Organic

At Yard Guard, we know the best lawns start from the ground up, which is why we recommend our blended organic fertilizing service. We see and treat your yard as a whole, not in separate pieces. One of the best ways to honor your yard is by using premium blended organic lawn care programs like the one we provide.

There are two types of fertilizers you can use for your yard, blended or ammoniated. Blended fertilizers take two or more materials and mix them together while keeping every granule consisting of its own material. The materials are mashed up with ammoniated fertilizers, so every granule contains a small amount of each nutrient.

At Yard Guard, we see the value in blended organic fertilizing and use a proprietary blended fertilizer program that you can’t find anywhere else on the market. Our program utilizes organic products with a minimum amount of herbicides to ensure the best results. The advantage of using a blended fertilizer is that its nutrients can last in your soil for several months, continuing to enrich your yard long after the fifth application is complete. Additionally, lawns receiving regular application have fewer issues with lawn disease making them look and feel healthier.

We are constantly evolving this program and strive to be at the forefront of our industry. If you have any questions about our blended organic fertilizing, please call or text our office, or get a quote online.

Off Lawn Weed Control

Weed Control MontanaWe want you to live in a world where you never pull another weed in your life! We offer off lawn weed control management programs for your landscape, from garden beds and driveways to noxious weeds in small field areas.

By making your turf thick and healthy, we will prevent weeds from springing up elsewhere. In addition to preventative measures, we apply products in early Spring that help to dry out seeds to prevent new weeds from growing.

We’ve seen amazing results with our off lawn weed control, but if something gets through, we will touch things up next time we are on site.

Weed Control

Weed ControlWhen we do need to apply weed control, our products are applied with your kids and pets in mind. By taking care of both our customers and our employees, we are able to retain long-term, career-minded staff who understand plant science. You’ll have peace of mind knowing that everyone who steps foot on your property is a trained, licensed applicator.

Weed control requires more than just a “one-shot knock some weeds back” approach. At Yard Guard, we promote better soil and healthier turf that can fight weeds on its own.

To keep the weeds at bay, we feed your lawn with proper nutrients from the start. Our program is built based on the Montana soils and climate and around the feeding period of our nutrients. By using high-quality, slow-release products, we can extend the feeding period to about 40 days. With proper watering and mowing, you will have a lawn so thick that there won’t be room for pesky weeds!

During the second application of our five-step program, we can start tackling any of the newly germinating weeds making your yard a home.

Some common weeds we remove include:

  • Crabgrass
  • Dandelions
  • Quackgrass
  • Clover
  • Cinquefoil
  • Black Medic
  • Creeping Charlie
  • Broadleaf Plantain
  • And more!

Deep Root Fertilization

Deep Root FertilizationWhen is the best time to plant a tree? Yesterday! If you didn’t start yesterday or want to have bigger, healthier trees, give us a call. Deep Root Fertilization could be the solution you need.

Not only do well-nourished trees and shrubs have better resistance to disease, insect attack, and drought, but they look better, too. Through a process called deep root fertilization, or soil injection, we inject a long-chain nitrogen source that feeds your trees and shrubs for an entire growing season. With a bit of help, your newly planted twigs will soon become fuller.

How Does Deep Root Fertilization Work?

Through this process, liquid, time-release fertilizer is pressure-injected in a grid pattern around the root zone of the tree or shrub. Liquid fertilizer is injected directly into the root zone area for maximum benefits. By injecting into the soil only, the tree can use the nutrients, not the grass or unwanted weeds in the root zone. The products we use are built to mimic what the trees would find and break down in a natural environment while decomposing.

Deep root fertilizing provides a myriad of benefits to your trees, including:

  • Providing more accuracy than pellet and stake fertilizers
  • Quickly absorbing the nutrients by the trees
  • Meeting your trees unique needs

If you’re considering deep root fertilizing, the most important thing to keep in mind is knowing when to fertilize. Before we start the process of fertilizing your trees, we’ll make sure they need it. There is nothing worse than fertilizing a tree when it doesn’t need an extra boost. Overfertilization can result in burning and dieback. If you’re unsure about your needs, call our office to schedule service or get a quote online.

Tree Spraying

Tree Spraying

Tree spraying is one of the most effective ways to combat a variety of different disease and insect issues. The beauty of tree spraying is that you can get instant contact and have the ability to time things perfectly with the weather. Tree spraying is effective for anything from boring insects like Mountain Pine Beetle and fungal issues, to simple things like Aphids.

Aeration

Aeration ServiceThere is a reason golf courses perform aeration service multiple times a year – it just may be the single best thing you can do for the grass on your lawn!

Aeration allows more water, oxygen, nutrients to get down to your grass’ roots while helping to reduce the thatch layer. When soil becomes compacted, even slightly, it inhibits the flow of these essentials that support thicker, healthier turf growth.

What makes a lawn compact? Construction equipment, kids and pets playing, and general use lead to soil compaction. For families who spend time on their lawn fairly often, we recommend aeration on an annual basis. For others, every other year would do the trick.

We can also pair aeration with over-seeding for even better results. Over seeding includes applying a thick coat of seed handpicked for our climate. Not only does it help thicken your turf, but it allows for better diversity of turf grass to fight disease and drought.
